SCRIPT: Lifestyles, I’m Brian Osuch. It’s that time of year again: school is out and the kids are home for the summer. Between swimming lessons and trips to the movies, why not take a day to teach your kids the joys of cooking? They’ll learn a valuable skill and you’ll get some help in the kitchen. Denise Caputi is a mother of four.
CUT: (Caputi) Dinnertime can be very hectic at the house. So, the more I teach them, the more of a help they can be.
SCRIPT: Give each child a chore that they can master, like breaking eggs. This way, they’ll stay involved and feel a part of the fun. Maggie Gilbert of Betty Crocker Kitchens.
CUT: (Gilbert) The best kid-friendly recipes are colorful, they’re creative, they teach a basic skill – like measuring – and they taste great. So that’s why baking is a great place to start.
SCRIPT: Gilbert says try making cookies or cakes using Gold Medal Flour or Betty Crocker Super Moist Cake Mix. And always stick to the recipes that keep your kids interested and involved.
